NEW POST-16 EDUCATION COURSE OPEN FOR APPLICATIONS

Fight for Peace is proud to announce that applications are now open for an exciting new Post-16 education opportunity for young people aged 16–18, starting in September 2026. As part of our continued commitment to strengthening our Education Pillar, this programme represents a significant step forward in supporting more young people into long-lasting, meaningful careers in sport.

This new offer has been carefully developed through extensive consultation with young people, staff, schools, and local partners in Newham, ensuring it responds directly to the needs, aspirations, and challenges faced by the communities we serve.

These conversations highlighted a clear and consistent need: many young people are seeking practical, relevant, and supportive career pathways, particularly at key transition points such as the move from Year 11 into Post-16 education.

While Newham has strong overall education outcomes, challenges remain around engagement, attendance, and progression into Post-16 pathways. For some young people, especially those at risk of disengagement or exclusion, traditional routes do not always provide the right fit.

A Different Approach to Learning

In response, Fight for Peace has partnered with SCL Education Group to run a two-year, full time course from our Academy in Newham. The NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity is a programme that builds on our strengths in sport, mentoring, and youth development – creating a pathway that bridges education, employability, and personal growth, supporting young people to stay engaged and progress into positive futures.

The course is designed for young people who are passionate about sport, and who are looking for a more engaging, practical approach to learning. Participants will gain a nationally recognised qualification, equipping them to progress into employment, apprenticeships, or higher education.

This programme offers a dynamic and supportive environment that blends:

  • Practical sport sessions
  • Coaching and leadership development
  • Classroom-based learning
  • Work placements in real sport settings
