2020 FIGHT FOR PEACE ANNUAL REPORT

Fight for Peace publishes its 2020 Annual Report today, documenting the key moments, achievements, learning and challenges from a year like no other.

COVID-19 had a major impact on both the needs of the young people and communities we serve, and the way in which we delivered and targeted our services in 2020. In addition to impacting our ability to provide services and support on a face-to-face basis, the pandemic created many new and challenging demands for us all.

Our 2020 Annual Report highlights the champion mindset of our young people, staff and supporters which allowed Fight for Peace to adapt to these uncertain circumstances, continue to meet the needs of our young people, roll out new initiatives, and ensure that we would be able to continue for many years to come despite the economic challenges the pandemic has created.

“I’m very humbled to say that our staff and young people showed the same strength, determination and resilience during the year that they have shown throughout the last twenty,” said Fight for Peace Founder Luke Dowdney.

“Thanks to this, and our amazing supporters and funders, we not only got through the year with all staff in place and key support being delivered safely, but, as you will see in this report, our teams took the opportunity to adapt, learn and deliver possibly the broadest range of support services in our history.”

The report includes sections on our three strategic areas of work – Academies, Alliance and Collectives – and presents detailed outcomes of our 2020 programmes, the experiences of our young people and partners, and key data gathered by our monitoring and evaluation teams.

It also highlights some of the year’s key developments, among them the launch of a national online training course for schoolteachers and children’s rights professionals in Brazil, the roll out campaigns to support the needs of our local communities around the world, and the planting of a Peace Garden at our London Academy.

2020 marked a milestone in Fight for Peace’s history, being our 20th global anniversary. While the year was perhaps the toughest and most uncertain we have faced to date, the opportunity it presented to tap into the resilience and innovation of our whole team of young people, staff and supporters, means we are able to move forward into the next chapter in our history with renewed strength and courage, and a huge amount of confidence.
