Our Head of Community Partnerships, Rachel Henry plays a key role in mobilising youth organisations across Newham as part of the Newham Youth Partnership – a collaboration between organisations working with young people and families in Newham.
The aim is to maintain a strong, skilled and well-connected youth sector, and ensure young people can create positive change in the Borough.
Together with Community Development Lead Josh Thomas, Rachel recently carried out a rigorous planning process which has seen the successful rollout of the NYP’s digital communications platforms!
In the run up to the new year, the team came together to come up with initiatives to raise the profile of the NYP in order to showcase their strong brand, bring partners together, and create easier pathways for young people, organisations and families to find out more about the support available from the NYP.
“We needed to have an online presence so people can see who the members of the partnership are, and how to get in touch, as well as provide information for anyone who wants to join the partnership. This is particularly useful for new organisations starting work with young people in Newham to connect with existing services,” explained Rachel.
“We are proud to have launched a new website, and Instagram and LinkedIn platforms. For our socials, we created videos which brought together members of the Newham Youth Partnership to talk about why they joined and what they get out of being involved. One of our Future Light young leaders, Amet edited all the videos brilliantly.”

The involvement of young people in this process was key, and Future Light has played a fundamental role in supporting the creation of NYP’s brand, as well as assets such as their epic t-shirts and hoodies proudly worn by members.
“As we continue to raise awareness of our work through building on existing partnerships, forming new ones, and amplifying our shared vision and message, we hope to be able to reach as many young people and families as possible, keeping them informed of support services and opportunities available to them in the area,” explained Rachel.
The new website functions as a space where users can easily find out about current members, and why the Newham Youth Partnership exists, while our social media is a space to see the collaborative work of the Newham Youth Partnership and Future Light, as well as what we are working on to enhance support for young people in Newham.
“Besides our recent digital successes, following some research Future Light undertook we have an upcoming youth-led event in April where our young leaders will bring together training and skills providers to address some of the barriers young people face in accessing life skills training and employment support,” Rachel shared.

“We are proud to see our young people within such key spaces where they can have real influence, and we are excited for what 2025 brings for the NYP! Watch this space for more details, and don’t forget to follow our platforms and check out our website to stay updated!”
