Maila School of Marital arts is a Jujitsu, Taekwondo and Tai Chi school headed by Seven Dan Black Belt instructor, Sensei Isaac. Sensei Isaac strongly believes in the philosophical and ethical underpinnings of martial arts and sees these sports as an ideal way to engage with underprivileged young people, especially those involved in crime and violence.

Maila partners with nearby children’s home Sithabile, headed up by Nandi Msezane, to provide martial arts and personal development to the young people at Sithabile who are mostly orphans. Nandi and her team provide a full-time care facility for young people who have been affected by abuse, rape, forced commercial sexual exploitation, drugs and violence. Their mission is to provide these young people with hope and the knowledge that with education, they can have a brighter future.

Maila School of Martial Arts will use the FFP methodology to become more integrated with Sithabile Children’s home, to deliver a holistic programme of youth support and martial arts. In addition, Sithabile and Maila also plan to expand their activities to the local township where they will deliver a martial arts programme alongside personal development and counselling services to critically at-risk young people living in very challenging conditions.
