Anthony Sims Jr works his magic at Fight for Peace

21/02/2019 – American professional boxer Anthony The Magician Sims Jr has paid a visit to the Fight for Peace London Academy ahead of his upcoming title bout in the UK at the start of March. The 23-year old, who has a professional record of 17-0, trained alongside both the London Academy’s beginner and elite boxers, before getting to know Fight for Peace members and staff.

Fighting out of Compton, USA, beyond being one of the most exciting young boxers in the world, Sims Jr is also a strong advocate for awareness around mental health issues. “My goal is not only to be a World Champion, but to build awareness around mental health issues and be a voice for all people”, he recently explained.

On completion of the training session, Sims Jr spent time with young Fight for Peace boxers aged 16-25, passing on both his knowledge as a professional boxer and his experiences in life. In particular, The Magician fielded questions on dealing with pre-fight nerves, the sacrifices required to make it to the elite level of sport and the importance of keys influences on his development. Sims Jr in turn asked all of the Fight for Peace boxers about their motivations, development and dreams.

The inspiring visit came days ahead of Fight for Peace’s Boxing Show, an event which gives young boxers the opportunity to develop their skills, match themselves against athletes from across London and put on show the results of the dedication and hard work they put in in the gym over weeks and months.

Sims Jr now continues his training regime as he prepares to face Argentina’s Mateo Damian Veron on 2 March in Peterborough, UK.
