Fight for Peace receives EMpower Champion of Youth Award
28/04/16 – Fight for Peace Founder & Director, Luke Dowdney MBE, has been honoured with an EMpower Champion of Youth Award at the 7th Annual Champions of Youth Dinner, held in New York City.
The Award was presented by EMpower President Marta Cabrera before an audience of some 250 guests and recognises Fight for Peace’s work in supporting young people to gain access to the tools and resources they need to thrive.
EMpower, a Fight for Peace partner, is a not-for-profit organisation that connects the resources of Emerging Markets (EM) professionals worldwide with the vitality of local organisations in emerging market countries.
Founded in 2000, the organisation seeks to impact the life of each and every young person at-risk and makes grants and provides technical assistance to local organisations working to improve conditions for young people in their communities.
Luke Dowdney underlined the significance of receiving the Youth Award: “It’s a honour to receive this award from EMpower on behalf of Fight for Peace’s inspirational young people and staff. EMpower have been a steadfast supporter and partner of our work in Brazil for eight years, helping to provide a platform from which we could build and grow internationally. They support many exceptional organisations doing great work for youth around the globe which only adds to the honour of this recognition. I hope that being part of this fundraising Gala dinner this evening will in some small way help EMpower to raise much needed support for their other grantee partners around the world”, said Luke.
Upon accepting the Award, Luke outlined the worldwide scope of Fight for Peace’s work and invited those present to watch a short video about the organisation.
