COMMUNITY CHAMPIONS

Using Olympic values and combat sports to promote the development of young athletes and their coaches.

The Community Champions project provides young people in Complexo da Maré with access to the Olympic sports of boxing, taekwondo, judo and wrestling, as well as capoeira, personal development classes and access to Fight for Peace’s Five Pillar programme. Workshops in how to coach via a sport for development and value-led focus, and the importance of the Olympic values, are held for sports coaches from other low-income communities in Rio de Janeiro.

Community Champions is a partner project with the Brazilian Olympic Committee and the International Olympic Committee.
