Training Course for coaches held at Fight for Peace in Rio in Partnership with the Brazilian Olympic Committee

28/04/16 – A two day training course for boxing and martial arts coaches has been staged at Fight for Peace in Rio de Janeiro, in partnership with the Brazilian Olympic Committee.

The training course, which was delivered by Fight for Peace Sports Coordinator Luciana Neder and Training and Institutional Development Coordinator Diana Bonar, centred on Fight for Peace’s methodology, coaching methods and elite athlete development.

Attending the course were coaches representing a total of ten social projects from across Rio de Janeiro. In addition to learning about Fight for Peace’s approach to working with young people, those present completed workshops on the role of the coach, Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) and creating high perfomance environments.

For Sports Coordinator Luciana Neder, this latest collaboration with the Brazilian Olympic Committee served as a highly rewarding experience for all participants, who return to their organisations with new ideas and learnings which can be applied to their coaching. “Those involved got a huge amount out of the course and left with a new vision of what it means to coach, learn and get results”, said Luciana.
