Achievement Awards for Fight for Peace London Academy members
04/08/2017 – Fight for Peace members Aladdin Benberna, Ion Pruteanu, Joni Peter and Sabir Hussein have been awarded Jack Petchey Achievement Awards in recognition of the outstanding contribution they make to the London Academy.
Jack Petchey Awards are presented to young people at Fight for Peace every six months and highlight successes achieved by the organisation’s members. The nomination and selection processes are led by Fight for Peace members and the most recent awards recognise the strides forward that the winners have made in a range of areas including boxing and martial arts, education and youth leadership.
As well as receiving a certificate at a short presentation ceremony, award winners are given £250 to spend on a something of their choice that will benefit Fight for Peace. In the past this money has been used to buy equipment for the Academy as well as to arrange trips and training for the organisation’s members.
The Jack Petchey Foundation exists to raise the aspirations of young people and to help them take advantage of opportunities open to them. Created in 1999, the Foundation makes grants to programmes and projects that benefit young people aged 11-25 and is run in almost 2,000 schools, colleges and youth organisations throughout London and Essex.
